Golden Hour Couples Session on a Horse Farm in Purcellville, Virginia

There are some places that really don’t need much help to feel cinematic, and a horse farm in Purcellville at golden hour is definitely one of them.

We spent the evening wandering through the fields while the sun dropped lower behind the trees, with horses coming in and out of the frame whenever they felt like it. Nothing needed to be overly planned. We had open space, beautiful light, and plenty of room to let the session unfold naturally.

Those are always my favorite kinds of shoots.

Instead of worrying about perfect poses, I want couples to move around, laugh, interact, and actually spend time together. The little moments in between are usually the photographs I end up loving the most.

Purcellville is one of my favorite places for couples and engagement photography in Northern Virginia. You get everything that makes Loudoun County so beautiful, from rolling fields and farms to mountain views, vineyards, old roads, and some incredible evening light.

For this session, having the horses around made the whole evening feel even more relaxed and a little bit wild. They became part of the story without the session feeling staged around them.

It was warm, quiet, a little dusty, and exactly the kind of Virginia summer evening I want to remember in photographs.
