Who is Hannah From Earth?

A cinematic, story driven photography practice rooted in nature, emotion, and human connection. Influenced by a filmmaking background, the work is shaped by narrative instinct, visual rhythm, and a deep attention to atmosphere. Each project is approached as a living story, blending documentary sensibility with an editorial eye.

Hannah is a Northern Virginia based photographer working across weddings, couples, family, brand storytelling, music, and creative projects. Her work is not confined to a single category, but instead guided by the same intention across all subjects: to create honest, atmospheric imagery that feels alive and grounded in place and feeling.

Inspired heavily by natural landscapes, especially throughout Oregon and the Pacific Northwest, her imagery often carries a sense of movement, stillness, and quiet emotional weight. These environments continue to shape the tone and pacing of her work.

Originally from Oregon, Hannah met her husband Dalton there before the two eventually made their home together in Northern Virginia alongside their dog, Baxter. Outside of photography, they spend much of their time exploring outdoors, drawn to forests, mountains, open landscapes, and the slower moments that continue to inspire her work.

Whether documenting a wedding, a personal story, a creative project, or a brand, the focus remains the same: real moments, thoughtfully observed, and translated through a cinematic lens.

Your Questions, Answered

  • Pricing can vary depending on coverage, location, and what you’re looking for, but most of my wedding couples invest between $1,100–$3,000 for wedding coverage. Portrait sessions typically range from $300–$500.

For a full breakdown of what’s included, you can visit my pricing page. If you’re planning something unique or need custom coverage, I’m always happy to put together something tailored to you.

  • Yes—absolutely. I’m based between Oregon and Northern Virginia and currently photograph weddings in both areas. I’m also available for travel and love working with couples in new locations.

For portrait sessions, I book within about 50 miles of the DC area. If you’re not sure if your location falls within that range, just reach out and ask.

For weddings, I keep travel simple and transparent and will go over everything upfront so there are no surprises.

  • I like to keep things straightforward and focused on what actually matters. Wedding packages include a set number of hours of coverage and a fully edited online gallery where you can download and share your images.

Portrait sessions include the session itself, guidance on planning (outfits, timing, and location), and a curated gallery of edited images.

You can find more details on my pricing page, or I’m always happy to walk you through options and help you decide what fits best.

  • Yes, and this is a big part of how I work.

My approach is centered around making things feel natural, not stiff or overly posed. I love capturing photos that feel like still frames from your favorite film, cinematic, emotional, and real.

During portraits, I use simple prompts or “tasks” instead of traditional posing. I’ll give you direction like walking together, talking, fixing a dress or suit, or just interacting naturally. It keeps things moving and helps me capture the in-between moments that feel the most genuine.

I also always make space for a few classic, timeless shots where you are looking at the camera. I will guide you through those so you never feel unsure of what to do.

For the most part, I take a more documentary style approach during weddings, letting real moments unfold naturally while gently guiding when needed so nothing feels forced or unnatural.

The goal is always the same. Photos that feel cinematic, emotional, and true to you.

  • It really depends on the look and feel you’re going for, but I’m always happy to help you choose. I spend a lot of time photographing in both Oregon and the DC/Northern Virginia area, so I can recommend locations based on scenery, lighting, and how busy they tend to be.

Whether you’re drawn to mountains, water, open fields, or something more urban, I’ll help you find a spot that fits your style and photographs beautifully. And if you already have a meaningful location in mind, I’m always up for that too.

  • The first step is reaching out through my contact form with your date and a little bit about what you’re planning. From there, I’ll confirm availability and send over next steps.

To officially book, I just require a signed contract and a retainer; once that’s done, your date is secured and we can start planning everything out.

If you have any questions before booking, feel free to reach out anytime.

  • I typically recommend booking your wedding photographer as soon as you have your date and venue secured. Most couples book anywhere from 6 to 18 months in advance, especially for peak seasons in Oregon and Northern Virginia.

That said, it never hurts to reach out even if your date is sooner. If I’m available, I’m always happy to make it work.

  • For weddings, you can expect your full gallery within 8 weeks of your wedding day. I also deliver a sneak peek within 72 hours, which typically includes 8 to 12 edited images that are perfect for sharing on social media and reliving a few moments right away.

For portrait sessions, full galleries are delivered within 4 weeks. I don’t typically offer a sneak peek for portraits, but I make sure the final gallery is intentional, cohesive, and worth the wait.

  • We roll with it. Some of the most cinematic, emotional photos actually happen in less-than-perfect weather.

If it’s just light rain, I’m always down to embrace it with umbrellas or covered spots. If the weather is truly not workable, we’ll adjust plans and find an alternative that still feels beautiful and natural.

  • For weddings, you can typically expect anywhere from 500 to 1000 edited images depending on coverage and the flow of the day. Portrait sessions usually range from 60 to 100 images.

I don’t limit moments or hold back good images. If it tells the story, it makes the final gallery.

  • Yes, I do offer engagement sessions. They’re a great way for us to get comfortable working together before the wedding, and they also give you a set of photos that feel more relaxed and personal.

These sessions are available within 50 miles of Leesburg, Virginia. If you are outside of my travel range, reach out and we can try to makes something work. I am often on the road.

  • Wear something that feels like you, but a slightly elevated version of your everyday style usually photographs best. Neutral tones, soft textures, and timeless pieces tend to work really well with my cinematic style.

I’m always happy to help you choose outfits or give feedback ahead of time so everything feels cohesive and natural in photos.
